The Rwanda Development Board (RDB), together with the Rwanda High Commission in Singapore, which oversees Australia, last week conducted successful tourism and investment promotion roadshows in the country’s five major cities.
The roadshows that took place in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Perth aimed at attracting more investors and tourists from Australia, which is considered a high income country.
RDB and the high commission officials engaged with over 100 business owners and travel agents and media during the weeklong trip and committed to creating a conducive environment for Australians to invest and visit Rwanda.
Rwanda is ranked as the second easiest place to do business in Africa according to the World Bank and is considered the sixth safest country in the world for travellers by Numbeo.
RDB Chief Executive Officer, Clare Akamanzi and High Commissioner, Jean De Dieu Uwihanganye met with several executives and presented investment opportunities in Rwanda in sectors including mining, agriculture, ICT, services, manufacturing, health, education, sports, tourism and real estate among others.
They also met with Members of Parliament in Canberra’s Parliament House and participated in roundtable discussions and forums and interacted with the Rwandan Community Abroad living in the country.
In addition, Visit Rwanda promotional events were held with Australian travel buyers engaging in Business to Business sessions where they got to learn of Rwanda’s unique tourism offerings and attractions.
Speaking during one of the engagements, Ms. Akamanzi noted:
“We are in Australia to develop connections for trade, investment and tourism. We want Rwanda to become a gateway for investors that want to go to Africa but also for Africa to access the rest of the world.”
She added that Rwanda will continue its efforts of marketing Rwanda in Australia and also build relationships where Rwanda can learn from successful organisations in the country.
